Unraveling Bacterial Vaginosis: Diagnostic Methods and Challenges in BV Testing and Management
Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) manifests as a result of imbalanced bacteria levels or an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina, causing pain and discomfort. While BV can occur at any age, it most commonly occurs during a woman's reproductive years, particularly in those who are sexually active. Although Bacterial Vaginosis is not officially classified as a sexually transmitted infection (STI), the inflammation caused by BV can be a precursor to other STIs. Therefore, accurate identification, diagnosis, and treatment of BV is an important component of women's sexual health.
This webinar will review contemporary knowledge of the vaginal microbiome and the implications of disrupting its balance of bacteria resulting in Bacterial Vaginosis, traditional vs non-traditional testing methods, and the diagnostic implications and potential challenges of self-collection methods.
Join us for this live 60-minute webinar on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 1pm EST.
Key Learnings
- Identify the importance of testing for Bacterial Vaginosis and describe the challenges of proper diagnosis.
- Discuss and compare the current methods of testing in today's market: traditional vs non-traditional.
- Analyze multiplex molecular testing and examine its value (or significance) in the proper diagnosis and treatment of Bacterial Vaginosis.
